Hot asphalt roofs are a thing of the past. Emerging construction technology has produced new solutions. Bitumen, or asphalt, in rolls. The asphalt is layered on a rubber or non-woven polyester membrane or fiber-glass sheet. The finish side can have color granules much like asphalt shingles. Rolls can be applied over an existing roof or as an installation in new construction or over a stripped or replaced roof structure. They can be melted into place with a torch, attached with a mop down adhesive or pressure rolled as self adhesive. Modified bitumen membranes are a step up for any low slope tar roof.
Bitumen roll roofs are cheaper than single ply rubber or vinyl. They are a good intermediate solution. If roll bitumen is right for you, protect your business with a quality installation from Maryland Roofing Systems.
